Tom's Career Highlights
• Early Career and Production
Tom began his career as a musician and songwriter with his band True Myth, signed to Warner Bros. Records, and co-produced the group’s debut album with legendary producer Jack Richardson (The Guess Who, Bob Seger). His production credits include more than 60 albums, encompassing 10 Gold and Platinum releases, highlighted by Honeymoon Suite’s four-times Platinum debut and three Platinum albums by Helix, whom Tom signed to Capitol Records (U.S.). Additional production credits include Autograph, The Spoons, and Big Sugar’s debut album, as well as The Gold-certified 500 Pounds, recently reissued by Jack White’s Third Man Records, who praised it as “the best blues-based album to ever come out of Canada.
• Artist Development & Writing
As head of a U.S.-based RCA-affiliated production company, Tom co-produced Canadian rock act Gypsy Rose, working closely with executive producer Gene Simmons (KISS). Through his songwriting contributions, Tom was subsequently signed to BMG as a songwriter. He also discovered and co-produced The Breit Brothers for RCA, and later signed Hamilton-born rapper Kazzer to Epic/Sony (U.S.). Kazzer’s hit “Pedal to the Metal” gained international exposure through The Italian Job, Malcolm in the Middle, as well as numerous video games and major sporting events. Tom also helped develop singer songwriter Gord Peterson ( INDIO)resulting in a deal with A&M records in LA. His debut album was produced by Larry Klein and featured the hit song Hard Sun.
• Label OperationsAs founder of Hypnotic Records, Tom partnered with A&M and Universal Music and international distributors to release more than 100 albums across multiple genres. The label’s roster included Anvil, Voivod, Nightwish, Accept, Razor, Big Sugar, Chris Spedding, Annihilator, Kataklysm, and Philip Sayce. During this period, Tom also achieved a #1 pop hitwith “Whoot, There It Is” via his distribution deal with US label Ichiban Records.
• Management & Industry RolesTom has managed and co-managed artists including Honeymoon Suite, Kazzer, Lee Aaron, and U.S. Platinum-selling rock band Steelheart. He later served as Co-Managing Director of Frostbyte, an indie label distributed by Universal Music, and worked as a booking agent with Live Tour Artists, representing Major acts for theaters and festivals.
• Education and MediaA former instructor at Trebas Institute in Toronto, Tom taught Music Industry Contracts.
